CUC- Here we come!!!

Regionals was an exciting weekend full of celebration, doubt, tears and joy.
After finishing top two in round robin play on Saturday, Bronco was scheduled to play Psychoplastique for the first bid to play at the Canadian Ultimate Championships. Bronco put up a great fight but fell short losing 16-13. Next was a hungry OUI UC team. Bronco got off to a slow start falling to an early 4-1 deficit. We were able to creep back to an 8-8 tie but OUI UC took half. What happened next was simply unbelievable...

Game to 17.
Bronco down at half 8-9.
Losing by 3
Losing by 4.
Score is 12-16. (game point for the OUI UC)
Losing by 3 (O-line doesn’t play another point)
Losing by 2
We’re within one point.
TIE GAME.
Turnover.
WE WON! WE WON!!!
Bronco wins 17-16.

The most amazing thing I’ve ever been a part of.

Bronco will be representing Calgary mixed ultimate at the 2008 Canadian Ultimate Championships in Calgary, August 14-17.
Hope to see you all there.

Chris

Tryouts Come to an End

Thanks to everyone who tried out for Bronco 2008. We had a tremendous turnout this year. Tryouts had over 40 people with a ton experience and potential. Selecting a team is exciting and challenging!

Our two Bronco squads were able to gel and play really well at Sunflicker in Kelowna. OcnorB lost to Lawn Party in the quarter finals and Bronco lost to Lawn Party in the Semi-Finals. Great work both teams!

The full team will be announced on Friday at 1pm.

Check back at that time.

Hello from Bronco!
As the weather starts to warm, Bronco is starting to gear up for another fantastic season. Planning has begun for Summer 2008 as it is an exciting year for ultimate in Calgary since we will be hosting Nationals. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with our team, Bronco was the top coed ultimate team in Alberta last year, and are fully intending to regain this title again. We are looking to be a team of experienced and newer players, all of whom exhibit the passion, skill and desire to make Bronco one of the top coed teams in Canada.

Bronco would like to take a moment to update you on the plans for the season thus far.

Captains: Jeff Sill, Chris Pazarka

Training: Bronco will start training as a group March 31st (running stairs, etc). Stay tuned for more details. If you'd like to be notified of these please email, coedultimate@gmail.com
Roster/Tryouts: We are hosting open tryouts again this year. Anyone interested will have a chance to tryout for the team. Tryouts will begin when the snow is melted, however, it's encouraged to come out to the group training sessions starting March 31st. Exact schedule to be announced around March 31st. The team will be chosen by the captains and announced after Sunflicker on May 16th.

Tryouts: April 7, 14, 21, 26, 28, May 5, 12 (Location TBA)

Practices: We will be practicing as soon as the snow melts (hopefully early April) every MONDAY (and the occasional weekend). One intense practice a week still allows plenty of time for other activities, playing league and just recovering if necessary. Practices will involve conditioning (sprints), drills, and scrimmages.
